Pre-trial Case Management
At Therapeutic WORKS Inc. (TWI), we provide pre-trial case management for individuals facing criminal charges—regardless of income, insurance status, location, age, financial situation, or the severity of the charge.
Our services include:
Release & Community Support Planning – We assist those currently incarcerated in developing a release plan and offer community support planning for those already released.
Comprehensive Screening – We assess mental health and substance use concerns, as well as basic needs, to ensure individuals receive appropriate support.
Referrals & Collaboration – TWI works closely with community agencies, treatment providers, and all levels of care to connect individuals with the help they need.
Mental Health Support – We provide guidance throughout the legal process to help reduce stress and anxiety while educating individuals on court procedures. These services continue until sentencing or case resolution. Those in need of therapy can access counseling at TWI if desired.
How to Refer
Referrals for pre-trial services must come from an attorney, typically from the Vermont Office of the Defender General.

Reintegration Stabilization Program
Our Reintegration Stabilization Program supports individuals transitioning back into the community through a release or community support plan developed by Therapeutic WORKS.
This service includes:
Weekly Therapy – Regular sessions with a TWI clinician to provide ongoing mental health support.
Frequent Check-Ins – Intensive support begins with multiple check-ins per week, gradually decreasing as the individual stabilizes.
Access to Essential Resources – By appointment, individuals can use our space and receive assistance with basic needs such as toiletries, phones, clothing, food, and housing support.
Community Engagement – Scheduled events to foster connection and ongoing stability.
Availability & Coverage
Services are primarily provided at our Burlington office or via telehealth.
Travel beyond Chittenden County is available on a case-by-case basis.
The program typically lasts three to nine months.
We accept Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, and offer sliding-scale options for those with other or no insurance.

Mental Health & Substance Use Assessment & Counseling Services
Therapeutic WORKS Inc. (TWI) provides outpatient mental health and substance use assessment and counseling services to support individuals on their path to stability and recovery.
Our Services:
Flexible Sessions – Counseling is available in-person at our Burlington office or via telehealth, with options for multiple sessions per week based on individual needs.
Comprehensive Support – We offer assessments and therapy tailored to address mental health and substance use challenges.
Insurance & Payment Options:
We accept Green Mountain Care, Vermont Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, and MVP. A sliding fee scale is available for self-pay clients.To schedule an appointment, click below to email Hope Love, TWI Program Manager.

Therapeutic Groups
We are excited to be offering therapeutic groups in Spring 2023. Upcoming groups include Anger Management, Harm Reduction, & Sex Offender Treatment Group. We hope to soon add groups around financial health, internal family systems, and more.
Eligibility & cost will depend on group theme & case by case situation.Check back soon for upcoming start dates, and contact us to discuss interest and referrals.

Mental Health Assessments
We are able to offer assessment as requested or mandated by the courts. Our assessments include screenings for mental health, substance use, and/or anger management, as well as recommendations for treatment. Please contact us for availability. We may be able to keep you on as a therapy client if interested based on availability. Eligibility also based on insurance, as we currently accept VT Medicaid, Medicare, sliding scale, and BCBS of VT.

Trainings
We provide trainings on a variety of aspects related to mental health, the criminal justice system, and how they interact. Training options include but not limited to:
-mental health & system of care
-community supports & navigating resources (including housing options and criterias
-navigating the justice system
-relationships between trauma & legal involvement
-racial disparities in context of VT’s legal system.

Therapy
Our providers are able to keep a small caseload of non criminally involved individuals. We currently accept VT Medicaid, Medicare, BCBS of VT, and out of pocket.
